The variability of the Eyebright has led to much discussion as to how many species of it are known. However, what all of these types have in common is that this type of medicinal herb provides numerous benefits. It improves vision, removes stye, clears the cornea, helps in the treatment of glaucoma, and it relieves inflammation in the body. It has strong anti-inflammation properties and it aids in the treatment of conjunctivitis.
This herb can be used for making an herbal tea or as something to wash your eyes with from time to time.
When it comes to glaucoma, his herb regulates the intraocular pressure and it eliminates the symptoms of glaucoma within short period of time. For stye, you should use a warm compress which will stimulate the secretion and relieve inflammation of the eyelids, which in turn removes the stye.
Add one tablespoon of chopped eyebright to a quart of water. Bring it to boil. Remove the lid and let it sit until it reaches 30 C.
Transfer the solution into a round bowl. Put your head inside the bowl. Make sure your eyes are wide open while keeping your face in and the head out of the bowl. The process should be repeated couple of times.
Preparation of Tea:
The procedure is the same as with other herbal teas. Pour boiling water over the herb, cover it, and let it sit for about two minutes. Strain the liquid afterwards. Consuming 2-3 cups of the tea daily will help you fight off diseases and strengthen your eyesight.
Note: This tea isn’t recommended for people with liver ulcers, duodenal ulcers, acute gastric ulcers, and biliary complications.
Add few drops of honey into a spoonful of warm water. When the honey completely dissolves, apply it on your eyes.
Take rose petals, chamomile, sweet woodruff, and elder flower in equal parts. Combine the herbs and add one tablespoon of the mixture into a half a liter of boiling water. Cover and let it sit for about fifteen minutes. Strain the liquid and consume 1-3 times on daily basis. The rest of the tea can be used as solution to wash your eyes with it.
